Just wondering if there are any advantages/disadvantages to running Identity Safe within Samsungs My Knox rather than as normal. Norton Mobile Security and ID safe are both installed in Knox and appear to work properly but do you get any extra protection or is it like, for example, running two different anti-virus programs at once and having them interfere with each other. Norton Mobile Security has both normal and Knox as "Your device is protected" in the notifications. Just curious, Phillip
As I have no experience with Knox, the only information I can find is from searching the internet. The only thing I can relate to is that if you are using Norton on a PC it will show one install in your Norton Account. If you then set up a Virtual Machine on that same computer and install Norton into that VM, you will see a second installation in your Norton Account. So what you are seeing makes me feel that the Knox environment is similar to a VM as far as app installation are concerned. So the one installation does not cover both environments.
As I suggested, you should look for some forums that have users that have Knox on their devices. Ask them if they feel A/V is required within Knox.
If I install Norton MS/ID safe onto the tablet then register in Norton's MyAccount I get one entry. One Norton "Your device is protected" notification appears in the notification area.
If I then add the Mobile Security app to My Knox a second device with the same name appears in Norton's MyAccount and a second "Your device ..." notification appears on the tablet, this one with the Knox logo in the bottom left corner.
So if MyKnox is a second virtual machine on the tablet, is it protected by the original normal Mobile Security or does Mobile Security also need to be installed in Knox?
Since it appears to Norton's servers as a different machine I admit to some confusion.

arrrgh. Phillip
As far as I can tell from searching, the Samsung Knox is not a malware scanner. It just restricts access to the hardware and apps. So you should not have any conflicts with Norton.
Are you sure you have installed your Norton inside the Knox environment? Again I stress my information is just from a quick search, but it sounds like Knox divides your device into Business and Personal sections. The Business section might not need additional malware protection, and I'm not sure you can even install there. But your Personal side will benefit from malware protection.
You might try searching for other Android forums to ask your questions on Knox.
