Scam email from Norton about $299.99 charge for service after Comcast ends Norton

Hi,

I just got an email (which I felt seemed legit enough) and I called the number to "cancel" the auto renewal (I have never bought anything through Norton just got it free with Comcast).  Well after they were "IN" my computer "removing norton" from it then they asked me for my bank info to "refund" me even though I had not been charged??  I hung up and deleted Norton and everything new on my computer. My ? is how does Norton have scammers?  Aren't they supposed to keep us safe from scammers? How do I know if I got the Hackers/scammers out of my computer?

You're most welcome. Stay healthy and happy holidays.

Cheers

Thank you so much.  I do not see the email in the link you sent me. It was from: invoicedepartment.01@gmail.com  I will be sure to restore my computer back enough.  Thanks!!

Hello jeni. You can always check this site to see if an email supposedly from Norton is legit. Since these folks were allowed access to your computer I would RESTORE the computer back to a date BEFORE that took place. If you have Windows 10 just follow the instructions in this Microsoft article. Use the section labeled "Your PC isn't working well and you recently installed an app. Restore from a system restore point.

Once done log into your Norton account and reinstall your Norton product from there. Make sure you get all the updates available and run a full system scan. You can also disable auto renewal while there. Any questions please don't hesitate to ask here.

Cheers
