Hello,
For a long while now, I noticed that during Norton full system scans, my desktop's fan will kick on (gets loud) for a handful of seconds and then off. It can happen 1 to 4 times per scan. Doesn't happen on Quick Scans and only a couple of times while using NPE scans (during the last year or so). When it first happened, which was about a year and a half ago, I thought it was a hard drive problem. I only noticed it was happening because I was working right next to the desktop tower, cleaning and organizing the space around it, so I don't know how long it had been happening prior to that. Earlier this year, my hard drive died (it was 3 years old) and I replaced it with a new one. However, that didn't change the behavior of the fan. Even with the new drive installed, the fan still kicks in on high periodically during Full System Scans.
Has this or does this happen to others? And can someone give me any suggestions on what may be causing this reaction or what might be causing it??? The first time I noticed it, I ran scans and everything came up green. So I initially thought it was a virus, but so far, I've run Full System Scans, NPE scans and even Spy Bot scans over the year and they all come up green as they have in most runs. So I am stumped. Hoping someone here has a solution.
Thanks and I appreciate your time and input...
