"Scan files when writing" option

Issue abstract: Could the “Scan files when writing” option slow down write operations?

Detailed description: In antivirus advanced options, “Scan files when writing” is enabled by default. Will leaving this enabled slow down writes? In particular I’m thinking of large data transfer operations.

Product & version number: 360 v. 24.12.9725

OS details: Win 10 (SSD) and Win 7 SP1 (HDD).

Never been into this section before therefore not changed any settings, deen on V23 for good couple of months.

. Default settings shown as attached

Thanks. I wonder why these are all enabled for me? I don’t recall any “Scan when writing” (or executing, or opening) options in my v22 settings that could have been transferred over.

Would be interested in hearing from additional people on how this appears in their default settings. And also any opinions on whether having any of them enabled (especially writing) could slow things down.

Hello @Ardmore , @mgirons

my Real-Time Protection switches are all default enabled.
all Auto-Protect | Behavioral Protection switches are default enabled.

as test: 24.12.9725 (build 24.12.9725.897)
Reset all settings → Reset to Default = all Real-Time Protection switches are default enabled.

This is as it came with a manual install so no transfer over of settings… Initial Auto install of V24 had issues with it, had to remove via Windows remove apps…That was a different creature from the manual install.’ Problem with security’ on pop up - but the problem was also with the Windows security which Norton should take over. There was also the issue that had a ‘Remove’ buttton but, which, when pressed , tried to run the old NRnR which came up with an error, Apparently V24 has separate removal tool which not tried. Did not look into initial version, went really only as far as opening as there was evidently major problems

NRnR here satisfies my v24
