Scan not working on Windows 8

Hi,

 

I have just noticed a problem with my copy of Norton Internet Security just recently.  I cannot do scans of any type until I reinstall the product.  After this I can usually do one scan and then it stops working again.  I have read other posts on this issue but nothing seems to help.  I have tried running Live Update, downloading updates and rebooting before trying again.  The Quick Scan and Full Scan buttons do not work at all, while Custom Scan gives me list of choices none of these seem to work.  Can anybody help as I find it annoying having to reinstall the product every time I want to perform a scan.
