Hi. I decided to open this new thread, since I need to better understand what might be going on here with the Scan Performance Profile. Initially, I had this set to Standard Trust and performed a full system scan which lasted about 4.5 hours with 1.3 million files. Then I changed the setting to High Trust and ran the full system scan again.
To my amazement, the result was basically the same - 4.5 hours. Similar file count.
How can this be? I thought that the scan would be faster, since they would be rated.
Additonal question: I have also noticed that my Application Rating percentage did not change from Scan 1 to Scan 2 above, so what mechanism is involved "in the cloud" to increase the amount of Trusted Files? Hope that I am not asking too many questions! Thanx, J.
When did you install NIS and have you run live update since then and rebooted afterwards?
How long ago did you change the trust setting? It may take some time for the changes to reflect. It is also highly dependant on the mix of files you have though one would expect with that many files there would be a noticeable change.
Also try to run a Reputation Scan by clicking on Scan Now > Reptutation Scan.
It does take some time and probably at least one reputation scan to update everything based on information in the "cloud".
Your latter statement would be my first thought. Everything really is dependant on that factor and if you have more of the less commonly used files than the average user then it could make a big difference. What percentage shows as trusted in High Trust vs Standard Trust settings? You can find this by clicking on Application Ratings from the main NIS window. Toggle between Standard and Full trust to see the differences in percentage and file counts.
