Has anyone experience problems scanning a usb attached desktop hdd?
The problem I'm getting is after scanning for quite awhile (5tb drive that i use for backups), the cpu climbs to 100% and over 90% of memory is used up.
This happened mid-October and after a couple days, decided to use the Norton Removal tool and reinstall (which went fine). I noticed my fullscan hadn't kicked off on the 1st (this week) so i manually started it and the problem appeared again.
When I run a full scan on all drives, it eventually got "stuck" on the usb attached drive. "stuck" meaning the resource manager showed no more disk activity or references to that drive. The OS (C:) drive on the otherhand was busy doing something.
If I remove the usb drive from the fullscan, all the other drives scan without a problem. Running a scan on this usb drive by itself, eventually the cpu and memory become exhausted. I see alot of activity on the OS drive so it appears to be looping or something.
The only way out of this condition is to reboot the machine. To get around the issue for now, I've simply removed the usb drive from the fullscan. I ran chkdsk on the usb drive and it comes back clean.
Am running with NS Version 22.5.4.24 on W7.
