OS Windows 7 professional 64 bit. On start of secure VPN the W7 OS keeps asking for a location for the split tunnel (Home Network, Public Network, etc.). Click on Home Network and the split tunnel collects. Next time running the computer when VPN loads the W7 OS again asks for a location for the split tunnel. Bypassing the menu results in Norton blocking internet access. VPN mostly works normally on W10 computers but have had to uninstall and reinstall on occasion to gain internet access. Still some problems with wg tunnel.
Like you (and others that are not receiving assistance from Norton), the wgTunnel (Wire Guard) 'upgrade' has been a failure. Outside of internet access, Wire Guard has turned my laptop into a brick across my wireless network - same with my phone on the network (printing, Phone Link.....). I have spent waaaaaaaaaaaay too much time trying to exclude program .exe files (to the extent I can even find them) using Split Tunnel with zero success.
The best advice I've read on the disastrous shift to wgTunnel is to.... turn off the Norton VPN. When on a home or office network with a secure router and strong password, the VPN is adding limited to no value.
HOPEFULLY.... Norton can be more responsive to this issue. Until then..... turn it off (or switch providers).
OK. Thanks for jumping in. I switched the computer to W10 a few years ago when it became available and my microscope imaging software quit working--no joy from the software company supplying same, so back to W7.
I see in the image that there is an option to set all future networks as Public. I would suggest not checking that box just yet, but choose the Public option and see if your network connection accesses everything you need. If it does, it might be worth checking the box to stop the constant messages to choose.
I have not used Win 7 for many years now. So if this last suggestion does not help, I'll have to pass and hope that someone who is more familiar with that OS version can chime in here.
Image above created by the W7 OS; ignore the number. Each time I open VPN the number increases, not always by 1--that's irrelevant. I don't get this menu on the W10 computers here. Appears to be something specific to the W7 OS.
Can you post a screenshot of the message for split tunnel asking for Home, Public, etc network? I have not seen this choice on my Win 10 system. Have you seen it on Win 10? It may be something specific to Win 7..
