Norton 360 for Mac - Security History
source: MalwareTips thread [here]
for example:
Thanks for the link to the tips doc but it doesn’t show how to delete the security list , pls can someone explain how to do this ?
Hello @c_stephenson
Yes, I posted that question over on MalwareTips [here]…hoping for a response.
Ok thanks , that’s very kind of you , i hope they have an answer as i tried the chat support and they said it was impossible !! Which i find very difficult to believe
I am surprised that nobody has answered this nor have Norton themselves bothered to help ! I have no option but to delete Norton despite my subscription having many months left
Hello @c_stephenson
I know you asked Support. I’ll try asking Support…too.
Initially, Chat agent advised that Security History with Windows and Mac is retained.
After I sent pic of Norton 360 for Windows > Clear History.
Chat agent wants a moment to discuss my case with “senior” or “supervisor”.
fwiw ~ as per my understanding from my Chat conversation:
Norton 360 for Mac - Security History is retained for some time (months) and then old History is over-written.
And “time” depends upon the volume of data, if you have more data…it will over-write at 3 months, or if you have less data it will over-write at 9 months…retention time depends upon the amount of data.
Caveat: I’m not Mac
Wow thanks for this , seems strange that windows has a clear but mac doesn’t . The security history is basically a history of the browser activities , stored for months and displayable for anyone to see . Not a secure system and the opposite , i feel, to how internet security should operate ??
Yeah… and you were told clearing history is not possible.
also, seems strange to me that Norton support does not have Norton installed at their work station.
I have today received a call from the norton supervisor, he checked with second line support and confirmed they they do not have a clear function on the mac version , only in the windows version !
Thanks for your help , pity the fault exists, they confirmed that i was the only person ever to spot this system omission !
Yes, unfortunately there’s no feature to do so. I recently found out about it too.
