I have two Laptop PCs. I would appreciate any advice and direction you can give to effectively utilize the combination of Windows Backup/Restore, Norton Security Suite and Norton Ghost for backup and recovery plans.
PC 1
- Windows Vista Home Premium Operating System
- Two Drive partitions:
- C: 288 GB, 87 GB currently used
- D: 10 GB, 9 GB currently used (Recovery Drive)
- One external Hard Drive (1 Terabyte) to be used for backup/recovery only
- Software:
- Windows Vista
- Norton Security Suite (Comcast version)
- Norton Ghost
- Two potential users, one most of the time
Want to:
- Create and maintain an incremental copy of Documents folders automatically (when changed). These are documents and data folders including mail (Windows Mail and Outlook), calendars and address books. Would like to use the D: Drive for this.
- Scheduled and manual basis, monthly or when significant software is installed, create a full disk image for potential recovery. Monthly process to allow cleaning of D: Drive and resume automatic backup.
- Create bootable recovery disk if necessary. I have the original delivered with PC,
PC 2
Exact same as above with the exception of XP Professional operating system and use of Outlook Express vs. Windows Mail.
