I was surprised to find a folder in my Documents (w7) " Norton Identity Safe back ups" I did not created them. It started 3/19/14 every day one until today 5/4/14. checked on my laptop W8.1 and the same thing is happening there also.
I never liked to have a copy of my Identity save on my Pc. I always saved my Dat. file to a backup drive.
Norton 360 21.2.0.38. Maybe there is a setting I over looked?

Yes you where right. there is a setting in Identity save. I disabled it now. In my opinion, this is a security risk. I'm not happy about this. Not sure why it has changed because I never changed any thing.

Have you opened one of the backed up .dat files using Notepad/Wordpad?
The files are encrypted, and it was changed because users suggested an auto backup - IMHO because the other users neglected to back it up, were not aware of the Export option or just flat were not tech savy enough to do it. With all the ocmplaints about the lose of data due to not Exporting, the function was added. At least Norton gave you the option to turn it off as you feel it is a security risk.
Thank you Yank for giving me this detailed info. Unfortantly I missed this option in settings. So glad that does files where encrypted. Now I'm not that worried any more.
No I did not open one of the Dat. files in Notepad/Wordpad, almost did but it was so late at night I just went and deleted the folder.
