Following problem noted today with NIS2011 and Firefox 8 (using WinXP). Can't recall this problem previously. Note it is NOT a problem with IE8, only Firefox 8.
1. The Safe Web icons (green check mark etc.) appear against Google Web and News search results as usual when I am NOT signed in to Google (e.g. to access Gmail or other areas that require sign in).
When I sign in, and then go to Google Web search, I only see little white square icons against search results. When I scroll over that icon, the Safe Web box pops up saying that the site is safe etc. But I don't see the green icon with the check mark in the search results.
2. It's slightly different in Google News.. The home page (Top Stories) shows the green Safe Web check marks regardless whether I am signed in to Google or not. But when I enter a search term, the results then only show the green icons when I am NOT signed in. If I am signed in (e.g. to Gmail), I only see the same little white squares against the results and have to scroll over that icon to see the popup box advising whether the site is safe.
I have tested the above a few times with same results depending whether I am signed in to Google or not.
3. Yahoo search shows the Safe Web icons normally in search results whether I am signed in or not.
4. Bing Search also displays the Safe Web icons.normally.
Am I overlooking some Google setting that causes the Safe Web icons to be replaced with the little white square icon in the situations described above only when I am signed in?
Thanks
