I just upgraded to 2014, and when skype tried to connect it was automatically blocked by NIS. I deleted the program rule and tried again and it automatically set it to blocled again.
Greystone, that is very unusual. I have the latest version of Skype v 6.6.0.106 and have never had a problem connecting with NIS 2014 aka V21. I've set the rule in Settings/Network/Smart Firewall, to Allow. Have you tried this ? How did you download Skype ? Was it from their site, via the Skype interface, or via a 3rd party download site ?
It does work now that I changed the rule manually, just thought it odd that NIS 2014 would block it automatically and I had to change it to allow. Since it appeared to be the only program blocked I thought maybe it is a bug in 2014 that should be addressed so that it allows skype to communicate automatically.
It is the skype version that Microsoft windows automatically installs.
In the Advanced tab on the Skype interface, there is an option to turn off Automatic Updates. Knowing it's owned by Microsoft, I prefer to update manually, when hopefully the latest bugs have been ironed out !
