Have followed the many posts regarding this problem beginning back in November. Finally I caught on that the systems under discussion was NS & NS with backup.
The apparent fix, at least for some users, was "Norton Security & Norton Security with Backup 22.1 update."
I am running NIS 21.7.0.1.1, which I was able to return to after problems with the installation of what I guess was NS when I renewed my Norton subscription.
It looks like sticking to NIS turned out to be a lucky break, given all the problems with NS.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64. The Windows fixes I can find about this problem, including ClearPageFileAtShutdown are set correctly.
I wonder is anyone else experiencing slow shutdowns of about 2-3 minutes since reinstalling NIS after a subscription renewal?
