I, too, am looking for a solution to NRT hanging on "Processing MSI's by Product Code." I am trying to remove Norton Password Manager so that I can reinstall it.

Hi mdturner et al,
Respectfully, once again we come to the issue of latest NRT...your latest NRT link September 10, 2009 > 948kb
and this latest NRT link http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20090910004050EN
September 28, 2009 > 775kb ~ both NRT state removal of 2010 to 2003 products...read beyond the header...both links have been offered to users as the latest NRT. Are they both the latest?
I wish someone would clarify the differences and how both are the latest NRT and how both are valid and why the kb difference. I wish Symantec tech writers responsible for docs would have a meeting and correct the inconsistencies. The header states for 2006 and later and the body states for 2003-2010....The header states for 2010 products and the body states for 2010-2003. 948kb vs. 775kb.
Respectfully submitted confused,

Hi mdturner et al,
edit update to above message...there must have been a server side fix...as all NRT links now grab 775kb NRT. Respectfully, to mdturner and the Forum ....my apology for the several postings regarding the file size difference from offered NRT links. On my box depending on the offered NRT link. I downloaded either 775kb or 948kb NRT. Since, I have not changed anything on my side...I must conclude a server side fix recently occurred. This is similar to the NBRT link where some downloaded 250MB and others downloaded 300MB. Symantec rep. Volunteer offered FTP link and I was able to download 300MB NBRT. Please excuse my zeal in attempting to reconcile the NRT file size.
Respectfully submitted,
bjm_
mdturner has the “latest” removal tool addressed the leftover Norton folders in the ProgramData files of Windows 7. As I have read its a “hit and miss” with the tool. Even after I ran a search on my Windows 7 it still didn’t pick up the NortonInstaller folder in the ProgramData. Safe mode is always a good last resort to remove stubborn .dll or other files. Just following up. Thanks

HI BetaBoy7
The Norton Removal Tool was never intended to remove the Norton or Norton Installer folders from Program Data and, as far as I know, is not going to do so.
If u have latest NRT and facing same probs.
Try removing norton products from add/remove and then try NRT.
