Some app spontaneously increased my volume

I am running Win11pro. I do a full scan every day at shutdown and Smart Scan periodically during the day, at least once a day at startup. I often shut off volume and turn it on when I want to hear something. I do not think it happens only when I am online. Although being on line may allow the app to load. I mostly notice it when I am playing DVD movies and TV shows when I have disconnected the RJ-45. I have not configured WIFI. The little volume GUI appears at the bottom of the screen and the volume starts to quickly rise.

@E_Cale To be clear, this happens when you are disconnected from both Ethernet and Wifi? Does your Norton history show anything has been detected recently that needs further attention on your part?

That’s almost certainly not Norton. Antivirus doesn’t control system volume.

If the Windows volume bar pops up and the sound keeps rising, Windows thinks a volume key is being pressed.

Most common causes:

Stuck volume key on your keyboard. Wireless keyboard with low batteries. USB device (keyboard, remote, controller) sending ghost input. Audio driver glitch

Quick things to try: Unplug extra USB devices, tap the volume keys a few times, and update/reinstall your audio driver.
