Some files not backed up. Why?

Norton 360 deluxe.

Why are some files not backed up?
These are files that are before the last backup and i havent touched them. Why are not all of my files backed up. I know that ones that i recently update may take time to udpate, but some i havent touched in years…they are not backed up and have a blue tag. Why? need help. can anyone there help me?

@gmPro182 Have you read through this knowledge article from Norton? It appears that Norton will not backup files to the cloud or otherwise that have not changed since the last backup. This is to conserve storage space. The article is a bit dated, back to 2022 but still should serve as a guide.

Note: I suggest using Macrium Reflect vice Norton to get a better handle of what, when and where regarding your backups. Norton will NOT perform a full OS drive backup.

Thanks, but the files i am talking about have… Never been backed up.
I know that ones that were backed up and not changed, do not get backed up. Otherwise, the process would take a lot longer.

So tell us what the file types of the not backed up files are. Is there a backup set where these files have been backed up before?

SA

Maybe the title of the file is too large. Change the title and try a smaller one.

No. that is not the case. Many are longer and they have the green check. Some just didnt get backed up. I am not sure why and Norton has had this case open for over 2 weeks with L3. I am hearing nothing back. WHen i call they say L3 is working on it and a few times they said they would call me in 30 minutes and they never call.

@gmPro182 By chance are these older backup files already in a backup set from an older machine no longer in use? Just a passing thought on it.

SA

No, they are not.

By chance have you reinstalled your 360 since those files were backed up? If so, did you set up the backup set again to include those files? Unfortunately, when 360 is uninstalled, it deletes the backup settings.

norton reinstalled it. The setttings are fine.
some files are not backed up and they were from 2022 or 2023. Should have green check. Need Level 3 to figure this out soon.

Did you recreate the backup set to include those older files after Norton reinstalled 360? If not, that is why the files are not being backed up. If you did not create a backup set, nothing would be getting backed up by 360.

The settings are all ON. I think it actually defaults to that.
It is set up properly, but for some reason some files are not getting backed up. It also says on the front facing dashboard that the last back up was 3/19/25, but this is wrong. In cloud backup it ran recently. Something isnt working properly and this is with Level 3 and has been for going on 3 weeks with no response, only get told they will call me and they never do.

But that is not going to backup all files on your system. If you have files in non default folders, (ie Documents, Photos, etc), you have to manually add those to the backup set.

Other files in the same place are not being backed up, but some are.
These are in documents folder. It isnt working right. This is with Level 3 right now.
I am only looking at this documents folder. That is part of my backup set not the program files, but one Norton support guy did add everything and did a backup but that was unnecessary. Now i have check marks all over my desktop. SMH

common file types backed up is ON as well as special file types. All that stuff is ON and is automatically set that way. That is what i want and i am only looking at the files in documents now. i just have to wait for L3. They updated the ticket supposedly. Their comment… this is still in progress. LOL. i wish i could do that at my job. Wait 2 weeks and then tell my boss…hey, this is in progress. LMAO

I need the files in documents folder to all be backed up and i want that date on the main dashboard to show the actual date of last backup. That is what L3 is working on. I am told they will call and email when solved…but i doubt that. I will have to keep calling in each week and then try to get them to help apply the fix.

While you’re waiting for Lv3 to come up with a fix.
Can you back up those files with another backup solution &or copy/paste documents folder to a thumb drive.
