Someone help! My son has been disabling Norton Family when he logs on and for the life of me I can't figure out how!
I have 4 kids. They have a user account on my computer on which I have Norton Family installed.
The 3 girls (younger) can go online for hours and I never receive an alert. He goes on for 5 minutes and I get an alert in the account that says --"Norton Safety Minder's web browser monitoring component is either disconnected or disabled. Please restart the web browser or restart your computer"
I signed into their account and right clicked on the paw print and entered my email and password and this is the alert I get--"Norton Family was disabled on a device"
So however he's disabling it he isn't using the password.
He may not be disabling NOF. I had the same problem. (Of course, it's always with the child old enough to want to do so.) After a couple of months of detective work (and distrust), I realized it was the way my son was using the computer that made it appear so. If he is at a website and walks away for some time, leaving it up, Norton notes that he's online, but does not note activity because the computer is idle. It thinks it's disabled. As soon as he returns and starts using it, it begins logging activity. I tested it with his laptop alongside mine.
When you see the message next time, please check the browser that your child uses to see if the Norton Family Extension is enabled. You can find it by clicking Tools -> Manage Add-ons in IE if IE is being used.
