Hello aviben1994
Welcome to the Norton Community Forum
Since this is a Norton Forum, I doubt you will find many users of Norton who can comment about Kaspersky's part of their program.
Here is an article about Sonar 3.

Here is the kaspersky article regarding system watcher:

The Performance behind Norton 2011
Symantec and Kaspersky both take advantage of their large user base. The user base approach lets each user act as a lookout for the others. Symantec and Kaspersky gather information, anonymously, from your computer.
My preference points to Norton since I know Symnatec has a much larger user base.
Try to balance the whole product vs. one part.
Cheers
Question
well Both Kaspersky And symantec ask about sending threat information to them does doing this actually affect user privacy?
Well I dont have much Idea about how this works
But most sites recommend to not check this while installing the suites for privacy reasons
Thanks for the previous responses too!

Does doing this actually affect user privacy. Yes, your privacy and security are enhanced. The data anonymously collected and user submitted serves one purpose ~ To protect you. Are you really concerned Symantec is spying on "you". Do you actually believe your personal privacy is at risk from Symantec.
Why is Norton Community Watch good for me?
Well I don't have much Idea about how this works
Respectfully, you have no idea how "this" works.
The collection of data & information anonymously from your computer is fundamentally essential to your protection.
As your Topic is System Watcher v SONAR. Gee, System Watcher... I wonder what is System Watcher watching.
But most sites recommend to not check this while installing the suites for privacy reasons
What sites ? What privacy reasons ? Recommend to not check "this" ?. Why would a responsible entity recommend you choose to limit the protection capability of any security product.
Thanks for the previous responses too!
You started this Topic w "How would you rate Kaspersky systems watch to Nortons SONAR"
How would the Community rate what specifically. Please clarify your inquiry.
As a Norton Community contributor...Are you dissatisfied with your Norton product. Are you looking for an alternate security product. What ever security product you use. I respectfully, strongly urge you to fully participate and contribute to your own protection and the protection of others. If you are a hacker or purveyor of illegal material. Then, I really strongly urge you to fullly particiapte. ;-)
Norton's strongest defenses are made possible by Norton users.
If you feel product B is better than product A. Then run product B.
Please do not confuse the collection of data with a threat to your privacy.

Re > Norton's Detailed Error Data Collection.
I offer the following verbatim text from Paola Zeni
1. How / When during the error event will I be asked for permission ?
There will be a pop –up window
2. Does the qualifier 'Detailed' apply to all Error Data collected or
is there non- detailed Error Data that is submitted without my permission?
There is no error being submitted without your permission
3. Does the process of asking for permission and awaiting my response detract in any way from the Detailed Error Data collection process?
No, it does not.
4. Upon a trigger event is Detailed Error Data auto collected & cached... awaiting my permission to submit?
Yes, this is what happens.
5. Upon granting permission...does the data go in the Community Watch queue waiting for submission.
In most cases it does, but there may be cases where data may be submitted directly.
6. If I opt 'Always'...does the data still go in the Community Watch queue or might the information report be fast tracked to Symantec.
In most cases it gets into the queue, but there may be cases where data may be directly fast tracked to Symantec.
7. Trying to reconcile [...] the collected data may contain:* Your username, which should not be personally identifiable if you have selected an alias to protect your identity; and * Personally identifiable information that a potential security risk is obtaining from your computer, or attempting to obtain without your permission. Simply, if the bad guys are trying and may succeed in obtaining my personally identifiable information. Why would any user deny the very same information to Symantec....
You are correct, users should not deny Symantec the information that helps protect them, but we want to be transparent with our customers and to comply with applicable laws that require to provide a privacy notice and to make you aware of possible accidental collections of personal information.
8. Trying to understand > Why Symantec has to ask for my permission to help protect me. My perceptions are that my products EULA / Terms and Conditions already fully satisfies my relationship with Symantec.
You are right and we appreciate your trust, but Norton Community Watch is a voluntary program and we want our customers to feel comfortable that they have all the necessary information to make an informed decision
9. I am tempted to opt 'Always' as a loyal Norton user...perhaps too naive.
Always is a good choice that maximizes participation to Norton Community Watch and it provides information that helps Symantec to improve its products and services. This benefits customers with improved functionalities to address new threats.
10. Is the Privacy Policy just a legal requirement or might there really be a down side for maximizing my Community Watch participation?
The privacy policy is a legal requirement and a way for Symantec to be transparent with its customers. Your participation in Norton Community Watch has no downsize and we encourage you and all our customers to participate, so that we can better serve you.
I hope this answers your questions, otherwise do not hesitate to contact me for further information.
Thank you and best regards

bjm did you copy those texts from the Symantec legal consultant article somewhere or are you claiming you are a Symantec legal consultant.
Hi Tywin7,
bjm_ has clearly specified the source of the text as Paola Zeni, Senior Corporate Council, Privacy; Legal and Public Affairs, Symantec Corporation. That is proper attribution. bjm_ explicitly makes it clear at the beginning that he is not the author of the material.

After I upgraded to 2011. I was curious about the Miscellaneous Setting "Enable Detailed Error Data Collection". So, I emailed Symantec Corporate. I submitted 10 questions and Senior Corporate Counsel replied with 10 answers.
Hi aviben1994,
NIS and Kapersky are both very good anti-malware software suites. They both are consistently rated very high in independant malware tests.
I consider NIS to be better which is partly bias on my part I guess but also independant tests usually do have NIS at the top of the list with Kapersky right behind.
One such malware test can be seen below:

HI aviben1994,
No, you did not ask a wrong question. There is certainly nothing wrong with wanting to understand more about how the software works.
Please see Floplot's earlier post here.
You can also find out more about 2011 from the Norton Protecttion Blog.

and I guess, I tried to also address your added Question
Thanks for posting your Topic. I learned about System Watcher and Proactive Defense.
I think... just from what I have read that Proactive Defense may be more akin to SONAR.
As to what the vehicle looks like and what's driving the vehicle and how the vehicle performs.
We would have to try em' or rely on those comparatives.
Security vendors are always trying to build a better mouse trap. That darn mouse is a tricky rascal.
Kaspersky was my second choice. Norton feels more intuitive for me. With Kaspersky, I felt I had to be more interactive. Kaspersky does present an informative website. I visit their Malicious Programs and Self Service pages.
Thanks again for posting your Topic. Sorry, if I pushed your Topic off track.
Cheers
