Sonar confusion

Hi there i have been using Norton Internet Security for many years, but only recently updated to the 2010 version, therefore the layout is confusing me witha  problem i currently have. I am trying to run a programme called Football Manager Live and Sonar is detecting it as a threat, as the programme connects to the internet once it is run. Basically i have no idea how to add this to the section which will allow the programme to run, without Sonar detecting it as a threat.

Thanks in advance for your help :smileyvery-happy:

SONAR detected security risk fml_launcher.exe

That is what pops up followed by

SONAR has removed security risk fml_launcher.exe. Your Computer is now secure

Just for extra information on the matter

Hi Kerrgio,

If Norton detects the threat as a low-risk item, you can go to Quarantine and restore it; while restoring it, you should be given the option to exclude it from future scans.

In the meantime, you can submit the file to Symantec over here via the false positive form:

https://submit.symantec.com/dispute/false_positive/

If you are not sure about the file and think it might be infected, then you can submit it here:

https://submit.symantec.com/websubmit/retail.cgi

If you want a faster (but non-human) analysis, then you can go to Threat Expert (which also belongs to Symantec):

http://www.threatexpert.com/submit.aspx

Edit: fixed typo ("thread" instead of "threat"...Thanks, Phil_D! :smileyvery-happy: )

Thanks for your help, although i know that this product does not contain a virus or threaten my computer already. I am not just looking to just exclude it from Norton and SONAR's scans as they are blocking the process, and i cannot open the file to use it.

I forgot to mention that it is detecting it as a High risk item

Hi Kerrgio,

In that case, please submit the file to Symantec either via the first link in my previous post or via NIS itself by going to Quarantine.

I will do so now, but whilst waiting is there no simple way of blocking Norton from Scanning the file when opening it?

No worries, found it. Thanks for your help

You can try excluding the file by following the steps in this post (only do so if you are absolutely certain that the file is safe):
