SONAR detects and removes needed exe

I recently tried updating the firmware on my router (Motorola WR850), and SONAR decided that the configuration software (wr850config.exe) was acting suspiciously and removed it.  There seems to be no option to make exceptions for SONAR, and no option to make removal a user's choice, and no quarantine either.

The next version of NIS needs to give users a bit of control over SONAR.

Hi

!. You could temporarily turn off the "SONAR Advanced Protection" (if it stiil want's to remove it.).

2. Download your Software  (wr850config.exe) and take note of where you are downloading it.

3. Then you can add the file to the "Scan Exclusions" list, there are 2 available.

4. There is a Quarantine, Click on "Quarantine" above Live Update on the main screen.

Quads

Hello jpdemers,

When you launch the Main User Interface and click on Settings in the Computer section, what option does it show selected for Advanced Heuristic Protection?

Agressive, Automatic, or Off?

It's set for "Automatic"

Problem solved, however:  when SONAR says a file is "removed", you might think that means it's been, well, removed.  Not so.

I went into the Quarantine, clicked on "More Details", and there's an option to "Restore Threat".

Seems that "remove" is NortonSpeak for "quarantine".

Remove:  to change location.

This can be really ambiguous, can't it?  Something can be removed from a file, a subdirectory, a directory, a machine, all machines, the known universe.
