Sonar not turning itself back on

I set sonar to turn itself back on after 15mins and it stays off.

Is this a known issue?

17.0.0.136 with the sonar hotfix.

There are at least two ways to disable Sonar, so it may be relevant to know the method you selected. Can you please give the steps to reproduce your problem please?

I tried one method using 17.1.0.14 on XP SP3 and it turns back on in exactly 15 mins. There is no change in 17.1.0.14 in this respect.

Two ways to do it: via primary menu (black screen) and secondary menu, settings (white screen).

With either method it works first time and turns itself back on after 15mins.

However, with any subsequent attempts, irrespective of which method, it does not turn itself on.

To get it working again I have to re-boot.

For how long have you been having this issue? Has this been the case since you installed NIS 2010? Did you upgrade from a previous version of NIS to NIS 2010 (over-install)?

Hi,

I upgraded from 2009 to 2010 as soon as 2010 was released.

Been using Norton for about 3 months and noticed sonar pop-up when installing a few new programmes over the last week. When sonar insisted on auto quarantining them I got fed-up and started using the auto function. Until then no need for it. That's when I noticed the problem.

Am I the only one?

Should I re-install? Please point to latest download.

Ian

I suggest that you re-install. If you have no other Norton products on your computer, please follow these instructions and tell us how it goes.

Note: the removal tool will wipe out your settings and any other Norton products installed on your computer. It will not touch your product key, however, and your newly installed Norton product should pick up your key automatically.

-Also, back up your Identity Safe data beforehand:

-download the removal tool from here and save it to your desktop:

-download the full NIS 2010 installation package from here and save it to your desktop:

http://www.norton.com/nis10

-make sure you have got your product key handy (you can get it from your Norton account) just to be on the safe side.

-deactivate any other security software you may have, such as Windows Defender. However, please leave Norton running. As a side note: running two real-time security programs on one machine is not recommended.

-if you wish, you can create a system restore point

-disconnect physically from the internet (remove the internet cable) that way your computer is not exposed.

-if you're in Vista: right-click on the removal tool icon, run as administrator; run the removal tool 2-3 times, rebooting each time after every run

-after running the removal tool: if in Vista: right-click NIS 2010 icon, run as administrator, let it install itself. When it wants to connect with the web, connect again to the internet.

Please post back with the results. Thanks :-)

OK I did not get this from your first post, so I will re-test

Did the re-install and still a problem with 15mins.

However, on mine (re-install) and son's (no re-install) it seems that choosing 1hr works.

Strange?

Ian

Scratch that. It’s intermittent as to it working properly or not.

There have been several Time based issues reported in NIS2010.  Reinstalling the software will not fix the issue.  The next inline update is supposed to be fixing these.  This should be the 17.1.0.14 update that is being reworked now.

Thanks for letting me know.

Hi Ian,

This is fixed in the 17.1 patch. It will fix the snooze re-schedule bug.
