Split tunnel not working as expected

My ISP’s IPTV playlist is closed to external access and video viewing is only possible from the IP address of my country. Therefore, when VPN is enabled, video viewing becomes impossible. To view videos I use the IP-TV Player program https://borpas.info/download/IpTvPlayer-setup.exe, which runs on the VLC media player engine. However, even after adding IP-TV Player to the Norton VPN split tunnel, the video refuses to play. This problem has existed since the old version of Norton 360 v22, where the same problem was observed with the Secure VPN split tunnel.

The application from another developer AdGuard VPN does not have this problem; the video plays without any problems after adding the player to the exceptions.

Product & version number: Norton VPN Ultimate 25.6.10221, IP-TV Player 50.2

OS details: Windows 7 Ultimate (x64)

Hello @Napoleon
Please share your progress.

Have your reported “issue” via Norton support?
Does Norton VPN Ultimate have Troubleshooting options.

There is no such option.

To confirm. You are adding the .exe file associated with those apps to the split tunnel feature?

Often apps are listed when trying to add to split tunnel. But you cannot just click on that app list. You have to dig down to find the .exe program file.

@Napoleon , @peterweb
Curious whether adding the main VLC media player executable here helps?

Sorry, I’m not familiar with IP-TV Player nor VLC media player.

Yes, I add the executable file because when adding to exceptions, Norton VPN does not display the list of applications, as when adding permissions for them or as in AdGuard VPN.

Hello again @Napoleon

Your opening post pic here does not include VLC media player main executable.

Curious whether adding VLC media player main executable here helps?

AdGuard VPN may have added the entire application folder to the exception?
But Norton VPN can only add executable files.

and adding VLC media player main executable helps?

No, the necessary files from VLC are located in the plugins folder with IP-TV Player.

May be time to give up on Norton VPN plan and move on.
Sounds like your disappointed with Norton VPN plan and may be better served with AdGuard VPN.

Oh okay…I’d hoped adding VLC media player main executable would sort your issue.
Sorry, I’m not familiar with VLC media player nor IP-TV Player.
I seldom (if ever) use any VPN on home machine.
I’ve no use for VPN. Just me.

Regards w Respect

AdGuard has stopped supporting Windows 7.

Ahh…okay. Thanks
