Split Tunnelling for Android Auto

Can you please get Android Auto on split Tunnelling. I can only access this function wireless and don’t want to have to keep switching the VPN On and Off. I’m sure lots of other people require this function. It can’t be hard as other VPN’s have it. I would rather stay with 1 provider for internet security & VPN

Since there are many users who have this issue with VPNs and Android Auto I would think that this suggestion is a very good one and should be addressed now

Hey folks,

We have reported this to our devs before, and after review, our dev team found that this behavior in the app is by design.

Android Auto is not currently available as a selectable app in Split Tunneling (list) because that list is built from user-launchable applications. Android Auto behaves as a system-level component rather than a standard launcher app, so it does not appear in the app discovery list. In addition, some of its traffic may be handled through shared Google/system services, so excluding the Android Auto package alone would not reliably bypass VPN routing.

I hope this explains the limit we have with this specific app. I will flag it for our dev team as a discussion point again, and we’ll see if there can be any change in the future.

Ivan
