What is SQL server 2005 Compact Edition and do I need it?

I believe developers and companies use SQL. Got the following from the article to which the Microsoft link leads:

So is it a security vunerability to have it installed?  Remove it?

Are you asking because of the service pack (3) which was released for SQL via Windows Update today, on patch Tuesday? :-) If you install this service pack, then this closes the security issue...

I always check for windows update on the second Tuesday of the month.  I always do this manually (as automatic always interupt what I’m doing and tends to install the update on the next day).  I keep a mental note, second Tuesday of the month, update computer (although it doesn’t rhyme! :smileywink:)

I read somewhere that if you want to memorise a (fresh) piece of information (like a shopping list), then inventing a melody or song for it helps ;-)))

So, you can sing (whether just in your mind or out loud is up to you...): "It is Microsoft patch Tuuuuuueeeesdaaayyyyyy...." :-D

SQL = Structured Query Language used for managing databases.

It is on your system because, at some stage, you have installed an application that needs SQL installed in order to be able to run.

e.g. Microsoft's Business Contact Manager
