I'm using IE8 on Windows Vista.
I've just noticed that new tabs in the browser open to the www.startsearcher.com page instead of my normal home page. Looking at results from Google it appears that Startsearcher is some kind of malware that gets inserted into your PC via Facebook among other places, and that it hijacks your browser's home page. I'm not clear as to whether it does any other damage.
Although there are various ways of removing it outlined in those discussions, I'd hoped to find something in the Norton software - or at least a mention of it on Norton's website or this forum. - but there doesn't appear to be anything.
Can anyone advise if this is something Norton will be addressing, or alternatively if there's a reliable and safe way of removing the Startsearcher software manually?
