Aftermany weeks, and still after the latest solution message I have still got the same issue I have been having for weeks now.
This is on 64 bit Window 7 with latest version of Norton 360 (I have also disabled firewall and virus checker while doing it just in case that would work but no surprise it does not). I also uninstalled it originally the w/e that there was the fiasco of the servers being down for quite a few days and the child was unable to use the computer for school work in that period and gave up waiting for it to work for them.
This is the process that has been happening ever since that original outage was over and I have tried to get the product back on over the many weeks this issue has been dragging on
1. Uninstall partly installed norton family.
2. Log onto onlinefamily, get prompt that the computer in question needs a new version of Norton family.
3. Download the norton family from prompt (I do this every time in the hope it is changed finally)
4. Start the install process.
5. Get to the logon and computer name part of the process. It defaults with a different computer name, error message then 'Unable to contact servers, blah blah blah try later', put the computer name in that is in my nortons profile, error message then is 'Computer already exists', put random computer name in, eror then is 'unable to contact servers..', put no computer name in - doesn't let you continue until it has a name in the field.
6. Wait a day or 2, see nothing is really done or mentioned in forums
7. Start up kids computer again, wait for it to come up with singon and computer name prompt as in 5., get same result as 5.
8. go back to 1. in the vain hope restarting would fix it.
This issue does not seem to be covered in the latest fix sticky message and is getting **bleep** fustrating that it has been going on for so long.
