Subscription Expiration Error

Purchased a computer ~April 7, 2010 with two years of Norton. As of January 1, 2012 Norton tells me my subscription has expired. I obviously have four months left. How do I get this situation resolved?

Everything looks good on the clock and date front.

I can't check anytihng within Norton because my account has expired and all it will let me do is go to renew, so I can't check the date Norton has in its files. I would assume it checks online as it would not trust the computer it is installed on?

You can try ogging into "mynortonaccount" and seeing what it says. If it says good till April 2012 the call Customer service.Only yhey can fix this issue.

You can also try updating your subcrption status by clicking on Help/Subcription. This should re-sync your account.  This is done on the upper right corner of Norton.

Hi,

Please go to your Norton account and check when your subscription expires. And as soon as you find the four months remaining Norton click the arrow at the left hand side of that Norton Product ->Copy the Product Key->click Renew and enter that Product Key to activate the expired Norton.

Norton Internet Securit Product Key starts with= J

Norton Antivirus product Key starts with = V

yeah....only phone number I can find is "for as little as $39.99", so I was trying this route first.

Funny thing, my other office laptop that was purchased on the same day, with the same applications and subscriptions preloaded from HP says Norton has 433 days remaining. I think it was actually a 3-year subscription.

Expires May 17, 2013.

Found the product key no problem, clicking on renew however just takes me to a page with products and prices with no place to enter in my product key.

Hi

As soon as you click on renew are you getting a screen with the sentence " I have key or code " , if yes click on it then enter the Product key.

As soon as you click on the Renew if you get Express Renewal->Just below that you can find a Box where you can enter your Product Key.

On both the situations enter the Product Key to activate the Norton.

Okay, the only "renew" buttons are for expired trial versions. There is no "renew" button next to my official Norton product. This, I would imagine, is because I do not need to renew it as it expires May 2013. I am trying to redownload now (on an air card so it will take about an hour).

My co-workers laptops, have checked two others now, do not have this problem. I cannot open Norton on this laptop because it just tells me it is expired and takes me to a page to give you more money. Very annoying and frustrating.

Hi

You have to click renew in the Norton Software that is installed in your Computer and Not in your Norton Account.

I cannot get into my Norton product installed on my laptop. It opens a window telling me my account has expired, and buttons I click immediately open a webpage asking me to give you money. It is like the program has been removed from my computer and been replaced with an ad.

There is no "renew" button, only a subscribe button.

What's happening as soon as you click on subscribe?

If you are on your computer and have the screen of NIS open -- and NOT accessing your MyNortonAccount via the internet -- then clicking on Subscribe should open up a screen with a box on it for an existing KEY.

But my advice first would be to go to the Norton OnLine Customer Support tem via the CHAT route as below and get them to verify your account and that your KEY is still valid. Apart from the possibility that you have been attacked by malware and NIS disabled it is just possible that your original purchase(s) that gave you 600+ days may have been from a third party and fraudulant, something that does not always show up right away. I hope not but it's better to know than to spend time trying to use something that won't work!

To contact customer support Click on this link and work on from there.

Feedback from users tells us that CHAT is by far the best at resolving problems.

Please let us know how you get on ....

Everyone, thanks for the input and comments.

I was able, by going on line and looking at my online registration, products and account to redownload and install the product. I have 501 days left in subscription. I wouldn't have found that if not for your input.

Very odd that, for some reason, my computer removed or Norton removed itself from my installed programs. I thought that it must have been some New Year bug or glitch in the software. Just something odd that happened on my computer I guess.

Thanks again!

I'm glad you resolved it.

I'd be a little worried that you might have some malware floating around in the background to have had that happen and that it might still be there.

I'd try running the FREE version of Malwarebytes (NOT the free trial of the Pro version that contains an active AV program that can interfere with Norton and vice versa).

http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free  and it's the left column ....

Install it then run the Updater TAB and do a full system scan. That will produce a log with stuff that may be flagged and be helpful. You can post the log here if you are not clear about anything.
