Support for RT devices?

Hi folks,
I particiate @ nortonlearninghub.com and inquired in the forum whether Norton/Symantec would be offering products for Win 8 (8.1) RT products through the MS store. I was told that ... at this time ... no, and I would like to know why.

I only ask as Norton has provided protection for all versions of Windows going back to Win 95 (I think), and  currently with N360 MD, it provides protection for Droid and Apple devices, yet does not provide protection for RT devices.

Come on folks, you provide protection for ARM processor devices, but not RT devices?

I've owned Norton products for a number of years, and always suggest it to my customers, since you fine tuned the product 4-5 years ago, when it stopped being a resource hog and worked well in background.

I own a Surface RT and want to have the same protection it, with my current copy of N360 MD, for AV protection, instead of the default Microsoft Defender, and also have the capability of finding my system, or at least having the capability of locking my system and deleting my data as my other PC laptop products can do now.

I'm sure that Delta would like that capability as well, considering I read they are buying 11,000+ RTs for their pilots.

Now, I understand that no other competitor is offering protection for RT devices. It's time for the leader in the industry to step and plug in that hole for those customers with RT devices.

It's time folks. Please reconsider your position and offer N360, NAV, NIS to we folks who have licenses for multiple devices.

Regards,

Bob

I'm bumping this thread, to see if anyone from Norton would like to comment on my request.

From what I can tell the issue is really that Microsoft is not allowing third-party antivirus apps to be made available through the Windows Store, which is the only method of installing programs on RT.  Additionally, RT does not run on the same platform as other Windows OS's, so existing Windows malware cannot install or run on RT.  For this and other reasons, there may not be a need for antivirus software - at least not yet........
