I wish Symantec would install into Norton 360 a command to suspend the sleep mode, and other energy saving features, during full system scan so I can walk away knowing it will complete uninterrupted.

In addition to the post by dickevans, I would also suggest taking a peek at the Power Options category on your computer.
You should be able to find this under the Control Panel. It is possible to setup Custom Power Schemes to use. For example, create a "Norton 360 Scan Profile" and use that while the Full System Scan is running. Another idea is to modify the main Power Scheme for Desktop or Laptop use. Certain states can be left on with a desktop vs. a Laptop which might drain the battery, if not on AC power.
