Hello all. Earlier in the afternoon today I was burning an audio disk when these two "download insight" alerts popped up out of nowhere. I was NOT using a browser nor active on the internet at the time. As one was reported as coming from Google, specifically Chrome, the other from Adobe, have any of you also seen these appear on your systems? There were NO indications any updates were awaiting for install or download. Norton says these are cool and Core didn't nail them as well. Feedback much appreciated.
Thanks to all. I don't use Chrome often nor have its update services set to run in the background. Thus, being suspicious of downloads to Chrome without intervention. Just too much invasiveness into one's systems for me.
Chrome will update them when ever the Google Updater runs and it runs on its own schedule. If you are ditching Chrome can I suggest using REVO Uninstaller or similar? Either that or manually check your machine as Chrome does leave behind plenty of debris.
A little further digging gave up the fact that BOTH these are related to Google Chrome and its "auto-update" settings. Funny thing is, Chrome wasn't being used at the time these were pushed. And no permission to DL were asked for. Time to put Chrome in the rubbish can once and for all.
I had updates yesterday to Adobe Flash and to Firefox yesterday. Don't know how I'd check versions nor do I know what the pepflashplayer is. I do remember Norton saying the Adobe one was OK and FF asked me if I wanted to update now or later.
