Help here, okay so I’ve recently bought a new laptop about 3 days ago. So far the ONLY programs I have installed myself have been Norton Internet Security and a copy of Photoshop Cs5. The other programs on Windows 8 were already preinstalled for me. So I was mainly going to use this high graphics laptop for creating digital art.
Anyhow, as I was running Photoshop Cs5 a pop-up from Norton appears warning me about a high performance alert originating from a file source known as “Svchost.exe” and mentioned that it was trusting, reliable, and mature. Now, I am not new to the term Svchost.exe as I know this file is also essential to Windows. However, I believe this wasn’t the first time this has happened to me. Only my previous laptop before it had crashed, Norton had been sending me these notifications as well right after the installation if Photoshop Cs5. A little after a month,my laptop began growing slower, and it would also prevent me from even opening Norton and that was when a flood of viruses crashed my laptop.
So what I am wondering is, how do I know if this host file is a virus or not. Norton seems to claim it is safe? Could it have been that my copy of Photoshop Cs5 carried some form of malware with it, or is it normal for these sorts of pop-ups to occur when using heavy graphic software? I do have to note that my previous laptop had a lot of installations from games to editing software, so that could have been the case for its crash also. This Norton Warning has only appeared once, and that was yesterday when utilizing Photoshop Cs5.
If anyone can also help by telling me how to remove the file if indeed it is a virus, I would be entirely grateful because I am sitting here racking my brains off hoping that this brand new laptop will not carry the same doom as the previous laptop.
Please and thanks.
