I have a DSL line and no router so I hot swap the cable for convenience without shutting down my desktop and insert the cable into my laptop. Maybe Norton was in a scan and this behavior confused Norton servers. When I started the laptop Norton might have assumed another computer had hacked in. Windows security center said no installed anti malware was turned on in the message center. Trying to turn on either Norton or windows defender would not have a response. This behavior seems like a program copyright protection action. Trying windows update all was fine no updates needed but then Norton popped up with a 8504,104 error message and started scanning installation. Norton has been running check for solution for about a hour and no change. In the past interrupting this and rebooting would work so I will try that soon. My laptop connects to a monitor or its own screen depending on what I am doing, this can confuse Yahoo mail and doesn't like me to log in with Last pass log in manager if not using the usual higher resolution monitor. If Norton is finicky also, maybe I will have to turn off a device before using another. Both use the same windows live account. The laptop is a verified account through email with Windows. But I didn't do that for the desktop as I didn't want them to convert each other to running the same software. Programs like Last pass slow down computers and I notice more gaming speed when I run a dedicated system with only gaming software running. I have been posting to the NIS forum mistakenly I thought Norton Security was a topic. Sorry for the confusion on that. I have Norton Security without Backup. Maybe Norton can develop awareness to my behavior and program tolerance to it if that is the cause. Thanks for any help.
