Symantec AutoProtect SRTSP.SYS causing Windows to start slowly

For the last few days I've seen long boot times. Vista Performance Information and Tools reports, "Symantec AutoProtect SRTSP.SYS causing Windows to start slowly"  (53.9 seconds)

Vista Ultimate x86, SP2 / NIS 2012 v. 19.9.0.9

I have not yet made any changes to NIS or the OS or run NPE or any 3rd party diagnostics (yet). I'm continuing to look for the cause & solutions but wanted to see whether anyone else having this issue has found one or more methods to resolve.

Thanks in advance - Brian

I should have mentioned that SFC showed no errors, NIS scans & MBAM, SS&D, etc. are clean...

Hello BCescot,

Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

We would like to get some more information about your system.

Bring up the "Norton Internet Security" panel.

Go to "Settings".

In "Settings", go to "Computer".

Select "Real Time Protection".

On the right, you should see the option  - "Enable Boot Time Protection"

1) What is the setting ?

2) Are there any other AV installed on the system ?

3) Are there any startup scripts/programs enabled ?

4) Have there been any recent software updates to the system ?

Thanks,

Snehansh

And also...

5) Value of the following key ?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SRTSP\Start

Thanks.

Hello, Snehansh:

Thank you for your reply.

I have recently changed my boot time protection to "aggressive". This is the reason for the boot time increase. I consider this to be acceptable and for that reason I would like to have this issue regarded as "resolved".
