Seems as though the majority of posts are AGAINST Norton's decision to take a PUBLIC stand against the NRA and it's 5 million members. And will be cancelling their subscription to Norton. My guess is only a minuscule fraction of NRA members are looking at this forum and posting, but will still be cancelling their Norton subscription. Great move Symantec. I'm sure your shareholders will be pleased with the loss of revenue.
Blaming millions of law abiding citizens for one idiots actions sounds just like communism
I'll buy my anti-virus from an American company that stands behind our Constitution.
I guess Norton was so overwhelmed by the decision to stop partnering with the NRA that they closed the thread. No one needs to respond to this, but I sent the following comment to Norton via the "feedback" portion of Norton Security:
"I am disgusted by Symantec's' decision to cut ties with the NRA. I have been a loyal customer since the '90's, but I will be shopping for a new anti-virus provider after my subscription runs out. I guess everyone blames the NRA for all the countries shooting sprees. Go ahead and repeal the 2nd amendment and the law abiding citizen’s right to free speech and the right to bear arms. I'm pretty sure you will get more feedback from others."
(My remark about receiving more feedback was understated.)
I didn't feel that I was doing, or saying, anything that Symantec/Norton was stating when they dissolved their affiliation with the NRA. If I violated the terms of usage, it was unintentional, but one can't read all the fine print of every agreement. Does Norton want to terminate my subscription, or disallow me from posting or participating in forums? Let me know in advance, so I can stay protected by another product.

Hello nychucky Free speech is a different issue while using these forums for a political statement violates "Terms of Usage" which we all SHOULD have read when opening an account here. For that reason and ONLY for that reason will we advocate the removal and/or locking of topics that violate those terms. Its not about taking away freedom of speech but rather the improper usage of this enterprise which we do not own and are granted use of for a totally different purpose. Have a great day today!!
I have been using Symantec/Norton products since the days of MS-DOS. Many, many years. Many, many products. I've stuck with you through the ups and downs, during times that your products were excellent and times that they were...well, let's just say, a few releases that were not so much. But overall, and especially in recent years, I've been very happy to be a Symantec consumer.
I don't post politics on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Like most Americans, I go about my life working hard and not making waves. But I am also a lifetime NRA member. Symantec, you have unnecessarily offended millions of users. I'm not here to debate the issues behind this decision. I'm merely here to let you know how sad I am that you bowed to the pressure of one side. You could have stayed out of it like Fred Smith of Federal Express did. Yes, I realize that inaction is a statement itself. But that statement can be interpreted as simply a choice to stay out of the waters. Symantec's concrete action is an overt statement, one that is inevitably seen as a slap in the face to the members and supporters of the NRA.
I know that the monetary value of my subscription is insignificant, but I imagine the loss of goodwill is not, especially since I am certain it is shared by thousands, if not millions, of users who will not take the time to post. They will simply leave. And although I do not normally support boycotts, I am seriously weighing whether I want to join them.
I have made a sincere effort to be respectful in this post. I respectfully ask Symantec to reverse its decision so that I do not have to make one of my own.
Respectfully,
CTTE

Also since Symantec is becoming so political .... and since I am a proud NRA member I will be, at the end of my subscription ending my use of Symantec products and going to another security product after many years using Norton. PCMEDIC here I come!!!!!
Alright. I think i got thrown off because it looked like before this topic was under "Forum Feedback" and now, it is in the "Forum Clubhouse". Regardless, this is a raging dumpster fire that needs to be shutdown...
Hi Symantec:
From Canada, thank you so much for having the guts to dump the NRA for discounts. More and more corporations have done the same. I am glad to be associated with Symantec and the other corporations that dropped the NRA. All the best.
On second thought, since there already seems to be a political "meltdown" on this forum:

I'm advocating for this thread to be locked.
Take care,
H.B.
Did Symantec offer discounts to NRA members? If so, were they really discontinued? If they were, did NRA do something vilely offensive recently that i might have missed in the news?
Regards,
H.B.
Yes thank you Symantec, bold move.
Much appreciated,
KC
I belong in this forum. I use and believe in the Symantec product.
Well, if it is true and Norton is dropping support for the NRA, then I will be dropping my support for Norton and their products. I really liked their products, but don't think they should change their support based upon an outcry of anti-gun activists. I will always support the Second Amendment. As you probably know, evil will always find a way to be evil, with or without guns. There are plenty of stories around the world where people are killed with something other than a gun.
Frank V is a paid agitator. Look at his posts. Nothing of substance, just childish taunts. And btw, appears to be the only one on this forum trying to defend Symantec’s stupid decision to go public with being anti-NRA / 2A.
Fellow NRA members: responding to Frank V’s childish taunts is like talking to a 5 year old. Don’t give him the satisfaction but please DO continue posting support for the NRA and cancellation of Norton. McAfee, BitDefender, PC Matic are all excellent alternatives. I am switching to McAfee.
To everyone and even you Frank V. In a way Symantec might have done us a favor by slapping the NRA and by extension gun owners (me) in the face. I just received a refund of $140 for cancelling my Norton 360 subscription and purchased McAfee Total Protection for $43. Not only will Symantec loose money for their political agenda, McAfee and other companies will make money on the back of Symantec's arrogance and stupidly.
I have renewed my subscription and will continue to do so. Thank you Symantec for discontinuing your partnership with the NRA, many people applaud you!
