Interesting catch mo, I haven't seen that one.
I'll have to take a look.
Hi All
Those who have the upgrade does this appear in your event viewer?just curious and any ideas what it is .
Hi just putting this before your eyes,Mods could you shed some light on this. What is this service?Anyone else have an idea?do you have it in your log after the new upgrade? Thanks.
I haven't seen a History Log yet, but my version 33 update didn't download until yesterday.
However, read the 11-06-2008 post from MPMTech; it's currently the last message on the page:
http://norton.lithium.com/norton/board/message?board.id=nis_feedback&message.id=17647
It mentions: "Symantec - Real Time Storage Protection Component", so whatever it is, it existed before the update.
mo,
Can you copy and paste the exact message you are seeing? Symantec Realtime Storage Protection is more commonly known as AutoProtect in NIS/NAV. Its certainly not new with the 16.1 update
Regards,
Mike
Hi MikeO
I have not done a copy and paste but will give it ago, fingers crossed.
Hi MikeO
This is what is appearing in my event viewer it has happened every start up since the upgrade to 16.1.

Sorry Guys,For all you newbies DON"T remove your image from the host site or that will happen!!!
Here it is again
Hi MikeO
I'm thinking if this service was meant to be happening before the latest upgrade,Why was it not? As a new user I'm always in the logs working out what things are and I never saw this even when I went from NIS2008 To NIS 2009 16.0. after NIS09(16.0) was installed I know my logs in windows event viewer got changed quiet a bit.as in alot more neater for want of a better word. Then after 16.1 was installed this realtime storage protection turned up.
Mo,
This event just indicates that AutoProtect was started. Its not new to 16.1. Prior to the upgrade, did you have AutoProtect configured for "Early Load" (in Computer Settings / Real Time Protection / AutoProtect) ? If so, it's startup may not be logged, since it is started prior to the event logging subsystem.
Regards,
Mike
Hi MikeO
Early load has been switched off since I have had Norton,It is still off. Thanks for your reply that all is normal.
Just a thought, the only thing I changed around that time was turning up the Advanced Heuristic Protection to Aggressive.
