My name is Peter and I currently live in the Caribbean on an Island called Trinidad and Tobago. Last year I bought a Lenovo V570 from Best Buy in new york, unfortunately it's a terrible laptop as there is a hardware problem and some preinstalled programs mess it up. I was able to do a full recovery of Windows 7 and I was able to uninstall the programs that were known to cause problems. I then wanted to put my Norton Internet Security 2012 onto it but everytime I try the laptop will crash with a Blue Screen of Death. Right After I put in my Cd-key and it finalizes the settings and before it restarts to make sure everything is complete my computer will crash with a BSOD letting me know the SYMEFA64.SYS is what is causing the problem. From what I can see online that system file is from Symantec. After I install the Norton I cannot ever boot up into normal mode as the BSOD keeps occurring the only place I can boot into is safe mode (with or without networking.) I have tried installing Norton from my Disc, I even tried downloading it from Nortons site and I tried installing it in Safe mode. But I keep getting the same Blue Screen. Is there anyway to fix that exact file to so I can use My Norton? I installed my Norton on two other computer before, My family's home computer and my sisters laptop so I have one valid install left. I used CCcleaner to clean up the registry and I was able to install AVG antivurs free and it scanned and did not find any infected files. When I looked through some google sites they said I could delete the exact file from the registry but when I went into the registry the file wasn't there. When I checked my local disk where it is supposed to be installed it's not there at all on my laptop. Any help would be amazing please. I don't like using free cheap programs like AVG, I paid my money for Norton and I love it.
Thank you, the Norton Removal tool worked quickly and then I donwloaded and installed Norton's Internet Security. INstalled great. My laptop was able to boot up before once I dind't install Norton with the SymEFA64.sys thank you once again. Now I just have to hope and pray Lenovo V570's hardware doesn't go through.

You are quite welcome - you are saying all is well as far as your current situation with Norton goes? If so all that's left is to wish you the best of luck with the hardware aspect of it.
