I have AV 2003 on a Win XP SP1 PC that suddenly stopped connecting
to the internet through my DHCP service. The DHCP shows an error
1075 event in the logs due to SYMTDI.
Microsoft has a fix for this issue here :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/915162
I have seen several online references to the problem being related
to uninstalling Norton Av which leaves reference to SYMTDI in the
registry thereby causing DHCP service to fail. But I have not removed
my Norton AV 2003 and I still have the Symtdi.sys file in Windows.
So, I am wondering if I apply the fix to the registry as MS suggests,
well it matter that NAV is still on my PC? I was cleaning up my hard
drive of a lot of trash files before this happened, but I deleted none that I knew
belonged to NAV.
