System Restore and Tamper Protection

Add ability to detect when the user is about to run System Restore, such as when the System Restore UI opens, and popup a warning reminding the user to disable tamper protection. I have had restore operations fail because I forgot to turn off tamper protection.

Thanks for the idea! We’ve been looking at this recently, and this might be a good option.

This certainly has been a recurring issue in the forums with a number users having system restore failures.

100% must.  Im not a techie and most arent.  I'll add my post from:

I'd like to also add that this very topic (disabling Tamper Protection to do a System Restore) has come up a few times on the Comcast Security Board.  The popup warning to turn off Tamper Protection would be a helpful addition.

I agree. Before I knew about this I was always wondering why does the system restore failing? Computer problem? Turned of temper protection and voila! It worked!

I agree, I faced the issue myself when trying to restore my system. NIS just kept displaying 'fixing'
