System Restore automatic restore points not created

I have Windows 7 on my Acer laptop, and Internet Security 2012.System Restore is scheduled to create restore points automatically on Startup, and 7.15 pm daily.None of these are created. However manual Restore points are created.(I had the same problem with my previous Vista laptop and Internet Security 2011.) I know to disable Tamper protection to roll back to a Restore point, and have done so. A local technician tried to solve the problem with the Vista machine, but gave up, saying it was caused somehow by the Norton program. Can you help ?

Hi hunterslight,

I am a bit confused - not unusal for an old man, but in Win 7, System Restore points are automatically created once a day and at various other times that changes are made to your system - download of new programs, update of some programs, installations of programs etc. etc.  This function is called System Proectection in Win 7.

In Win 7, the Back Up and Restore function can be set to perform on a scheduled basis (as you seem to indicate).

How about some clarification as to which function you are really talking about.

<edit> SOJ, it seems we are getting some conflicting info.  I'll go back and recheck my reference1 <edit>

Forget my above post, I found where you can actually create auto restore points using the task scheduler.

Oh and yes it is 7 days for Win 7, but different variants of 24 hours for Vista and XP.
