I can't offer you any help, but I'd like to add a "Me too!"  I've got it on two systems with NSW 2008 prem & XP-Pro-SP3.

I don't care how much time I've spent on BeavCom, I wish it weren't being logged (just kidding).

When you run One Button Checkup, do you see an error or any other item pop up  (like a Windows Installer prompt)?  If you see nothing and items are detected and fixed, then you can ignore it.  If not, we'll need that information.

Thank you Erik.

There are no pop-ups and it does detect and fix problems. I will ignore it.

I do have one more question.

Windows Registry Scan found 2 problems and when I click to Fix it - it says that 2 problems were fixed, but on the next scan it finds them again. See picture below.

 Windows Registry Scan

There are also 10 files that were found but not removed by Norton Cleanup Scan  (See below)

Norton Cleanup Scan

Is this something to be concerned about?

Best Regards, Alex.

Alexander,

No, you don't need to worried about these.  For the first, what was detected are items that are temporarily invalid.  There's a similar problem with AOL that can occur.  Those two registry entries only point to valid items momentarily.  I would choose to ignore the errors.  For the second, it merely means that at the time of the cleanup it was unable to delete those files for some reason.  It's most likely that a program was actively using them and did not release them for deletion.

Erik, thank you for the quick response.

Best regards, Alex.

Windows XP Home SP3

System Works 12.0.1 Build 1

SW Basic

I have NIS 2011 installed

I've run Live Update and it said I'm up to date on SW

Running Systemworks, which works fine until I close it and get a Parameter Incorrect (or Incorrect Parameter) error. Then it won't run again until I reboot.

Did you recently installed any new program?

No new programs. As for SystemWorks, I only use WinDoctor. If I have gotten the error message, I will get it again when I shut down the computer. A box which says Norton WinDoctor on it contains the message: "The Parameter Is Incorrect."

For me it seems that some of the NSW progran files have been damaged. And that is causing the error.

Can you please try this:

1. Backup your Identity Safe data in NIS2011
2. Download latest Norton Internet Security installer: www.norton.com/nis11 (this is the English one, for other languages please go to the Norton Update Center: www.norton.com/nuc )

3. Download latest Norton System Works 12 Basic installation file: www.norton.com/nsw09b
4. Download Norton Removal Tool: www.norton.com/nrt
5. Disconnect from internet
6. Remove Norton Internet Security from Start Menu or from Control Panel -> Add or Remove programs

7. Remove Norton System Works from Start Menu or from Control Panel -> Add or Remove programs

8. Reboot
9. Run the Norton Removal Tool, reboot (repeat it 2-3 times)
10. Install Norton SystemWorks 12 Basic with the downloaded setup file

11. Install Norton Internet Security 2011
12. Run Live Update in both product until you get no new updates
13. Restore your Identity Safe data in NIS2011

Let me know if this helps.

This seems to have done the trick. Thank you.
