This all started when I got the "Service Framework" error, and windows needs to close. My NIS 2009 is totally inoperable. I used the Norton removal tool to uninstall NIS. I ran it 3 times and restarted after each time the tool was run before reinstalling NIS.
Upon restart everything looks normal, however the icon in the system tray disappears when the cursor touches it. I have the Norton icon on the desktop, but that does nothing. I can't do a scan or a live update.
I ran several virus scans, one with Malwarebytes and it showed 13 infections, however they were all MS and IE related and it listed them a not being malicious. I'm cautious of removing items in the Registry that are related to MS.
I worked with Norton tech support for several hours yesterday with no resolution.
Tech support said I must have a virus/infection and suggested I spend the $99.00 for the assistance with the removal of same.
I don't mind spending the money if things get back to normal. My concern is, they may remove and malware, but will they do all that's necessary for a complete fix whatever that me by.
Any thoughts?
