Temporarily turning off N360

Is there an easy way to turn off Norton 360, especially the feature which scans for malware/viruses? If I'm running another malware/virus scanner (rare) or N360 complete scan (more frequently), the automatic scans which take place when the computer is idle seem to conflict (possibly when they're both looking at the same file), resulting in the scan taking a lot of time (more than 2 hours today, and I've only got about 30GB used). Will turning off all automatic tasks do the trick?

You can go into settings and turn off idle time scans and that should resolve thngs to be as you want them.

Hello Shally,

Your message is a bit shy on important information such as your version of Norton 360 and the name of the other scanner you are using.

However, with the information thus far provided, it is not recommended to have two real time scanners running. As you have already noticed, this can cause a conflict and can actually leave you less protected.

If you can provide us with some details, more accurate advice can be provided.

I've got Norton 360 V4, and the other scanner is occasionally SUPERAntiSpyware (not the real time scanner). In the case this afternoon Norton 360 was battling itself, as the scan I started seemed to be fighting the idle time scan. That's why I wanted to know how to turn the idle time scan off.

I also would like specific info on how to permanently turn off idle time scanning for Norton 360 v4.  Please include specific navigation from the top menu.  Thanks.
