The choice to use LifeLock ends our relationship

When I received my email from Symantec, telling me my subscription will include free LifeLock protection, it linked me to a "Learn More" page which spewed out a bunch of useless PR garbage.

What really steamed me was the fact the page didn't include this link:
https://www.bing.com/search?q=lifelock+sued+by+government&qs=AS&pq=lifelock+sued&sk=AS1&sc=5-13&cvid=743B26DB36204F8A842AFF726939F363&FORM=QBRE&sp=2&ghc=1

That's a link to Bing which details how many times the LifeLock has been sued by the FTC for consumer fraud and failing to provide the service as advertised.

Now, Norton spends $1 billion to acquire this company, most likely betting on the fact most of its customers never heard of LifeLock, or its troubles with the law.

Unfortunately for the idiots now running Symantec, I am not one of these gullible customers. To think I would ever allow a company to put my personal, financial information into this service is insulting, especially without giving me any chance to opt out. The "It'll be provided when your subscription renews" is a polite way of saying, "We're forcing it on you, whether you like it or not."

My only hope is when my subscription ends, my information is removed from this "service". For Symantec's sake, it had better be, because I can absolutely promise it'll cost the company much more than its "$1 million guarantee" if my information is found to have been acquired through a service I had no opportunity to decline.

20+ years I've been using Norton, and recommending it to others. All Norton had to do is one simple job: protect our systems as best it can, and it blew this simple task.

Now, my subscription will end and Norton will be wiped from every piece of hardware in my home. It'll be replace with Bitlocker, who doesn't take my financial information and abuse it through bogus services.

I sincerely hope it was worth the lost trust to pull this crap on customers, Symantec. I truly feel sorry for every customer you're lying to about the service. I can only hope the executives at Symantec have their financial information stolen and abuse by identity thieves, because it'll be the only way these idiots learn their lesson while appeasing to the shareholders first, customers second.

THE LEAST SYMANTEC COULD HAVE DONE WAS BE HONEST WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS AND GIVE THEM AN OPT OUT INSTEAD OF GIVING THEM A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY.

One simple job, and Symantec couldn't do it.

Pathetic.

Goodbye, Norton. Our 20+ year relationship now comes to an end, and here's hoping (before it's deleted, I'm sure) this message reaches out to other customers to run as quickly as possible from LifeLock.
