After a threat was recently removed from my system (see attachment), I am now receiving the following notification (see attachment) every few minutes:
"The module "c:\Users\...\Squashier.dll" failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files". The specified module could not be found.
Note that the .DLL file that could not be found is the one that was removed during the threat removal. Is there anything that could be done to stop having this notification boxes keep popping up during my session. Note that I am running Windows 10 with all the latest updates, and Norton 360 with all the latest updates.
Appreciate any help you could provide me with on this.
Hello @John Ben
Please post progress
Thanks
I believe I found out why I was constantly getting the "Failed .DLL" popup after Norton removed the "Squashier.DLL" from my system. Using CCLEANER Professional I was able to check the "Startup" programs and found a program called "Cremates_v4.116.266.16" (under "Scheduled Tasks") that was running the following: "%windir%\System32\Regsvr32.exe -e -n -i:"0101" "C:\Users\...\Favorites\AMD64 Family 23 Model 1 Stepping 1, AuthenticAMD\Squashier.dll"
Since that was the file that Norton had removed, I disabled that task in Startup, and since I did that, I am no longer getting: "The module "C:\Users\...\Favorites\AMD64 Family 23 Model 1 Stepping 1, AuthenticAMD\Squashier.dll" failed to load" popup message. I will leave it disabled to make sure everything continues to work before I finally delete it.
Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions on this
John Ben:
Yes, I will attempt to contact Malwarebytes on this. However, I am paying for Norton 360, so I'm not sure why I have to contact another vendor for help on this. After all, Norton as the one that deleted the Squashier.dll file from my system! Yes, it did stop me from receiving the one popup that I had telling me that they blocked a threat, but now I have another constantly annoying popup to deal with (failed to load Squashier.dll). Sounds like maybe I should cancel Norton and move totally to Malwarebytes!
