Transferring installation of Norton 360 to another PC/Laptop without un-installing

Hi,

I currently have Norton 360 5.0 installed on 2 desktops and 1 Laptop. However, one of the desktops has become un-usable (head crash) so I am unable to even power the thing up let alone get to the desktop and un-install any software.

I now have purchased a Laptop to replaced the damage desktop and would like to transfer the Norton installation across to the laptop.

However, I don't seem to be able to find a way to this without be able to go onto the Desktop and un-install the installation of Norton 360.

Can any one help please ?

Thanks

John

Before you try to install N360 on your new laptop please tell us what security software came on it perhaps as a free trial and how you removed it. This has to be done and if it's not a Norton Product you may need to use a special tool that you can download from the security application website.

So let us know about this first.

Hello

You may also get a notice that you have exceeded the number of computers allowed. If this happens, then please contact customer support using the free chat program. They are the ones who can reset the number of activations used.

Hi,

It was McAfee on a Trial period - that's expired now and just be on to McAfee Technical Support and they have removed all traces of McAfee from my Laptop.

Good work -- that should clear the decks.

Rather than use your CD, if that is what you have, from your original installations I'd suggest you download the correct veresion/subversion of this N 360 installer which is a one piece file and should be much more uptodate than your CD.

If the new PC has VISTA or WIndows 7 I recommend right mouse clicking on the SAVE'd file (don't run it when Windows asks) and select Run as Administrator since I find it tends to go more smoothly.

New N360 V5:  Click on the link that matches your version:

Norton 360 v5 Standard: http://www.norton.com/n360s_5/  << version with 2GB of online storage

Norton 360 v5 Premier: http://www.norton_com/n360p_5/    << version with 25GB of online storage

Norton 360 v5 Standard Netbook Edition: http://www.norton.com/n360sne_5/   Netbook Edition  << version with 2GB of online storage

Norton 360 v5 Premier Netbook Edition:  http://www.norton_com/n360pne_5/   Premium Netbook Edition  << version with 25GB of online storage

Make sure you get the right version since the keys are not interchangeable.

SAVE the file where you can find it -- do not run it from the download site when Windows asks what you want to do.

You can download that file on any computer and transfer it to a thumbdrive to install on another.

When it asks you to activate it you can click on Renew/Subscribe and enter the key there.

Hope tht helps -- please let us know how you get on.

Hi Hugh,

Norton 360 now installed -  Liveupdate run and Laptop scanned. Appears to be working fine.

Thanks for your help, very much appreciated

Thanks for coming back so quickly -- you can use that download to update the other computers if by any chance they are still on N360 V4.
