Tried to Update Norton, Now Getting Black Screen

I was using my computer when I saw a small Norton pop-up in the lower right hand side of the screen announcing that there was a new update. I downloaded the update, Norton promptly froze, and then my computer crashed. I tried to restart my computer and found that I cannot log in because the log in page freezes instantly. So I tried to restart in Safe Mode and reinstall Norton to try and find whatever virus it was that could be causing this. Everything was working fine until I downloaded Norton 360 and installed it. My computer once again instantly froze. Now whenever I try to log into my computer, I receive a black screen, the cursor is visible, and I cannot do anything (this happens in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode startups). I used the official Norton.com downloads.

Norton 360

I've never had a virus before. I was not downloading anything else at the time. My desktop also has Norton 360 and it is having no problems at all. This occured the very instant I installed the Norton 360 update. I'm completely unable to do a System Restore (recieve a message saying my backup driver could not be found). Startup Repair detects no problems. What do I do?

Hello Ed2012,

Couple of questions -

Which version of N360 are you downloading ?

Are there dump files located here -

1) C:\windows\memory.dmp

2) .dmp files in C:\windows\minidump\

Thanks,

Snehansh
