I recently restored a Toshiba satellite laptop to factory state. Started on a clean slate. I"m running windows 7, 64 bits. Installed Norton antivirus and checked with Norton power erasers, and it was clean.
I don't email from this machine, I only watch art instruction videos streamed on a paid membership site from a well known art publisher. And I use Paltalk wich is an instant messenger, which may be a problem, since the software interface runs ads. I'm not doing anything else , not even browsing, just observing these for now.
I got a few alerts that Norton blocked Trojan.Gen detected by auto protect. I would like to understand how these .tmp get in there. Some alerts go like this:
on 08/13 Trojan.Gen was detected and blocked by auto protect. /c67b.tmp / containted threat.
c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\drm\c67b.tmp
and then another alert came up with a sligthly variation in the TMP changing to ...drm\c67c.tmp
What are these trojans, and where could they be coming from if I'm not doing much with the laptop?
ANY other user other than the thread starter is not to use any instructions, scripts or proceedures, The work though in cleaning a system is individual and only for that system due to a number of factors.
Unfortunately, with the amount of threads means the waiting time is longer, Norton continually Blocking files won't hurt your system but is is just annoying, Please wait and be patient. I am trying to keep up, spending hours here to script and clean machines on a first come/first served basis. If you or someone adds to your thread It will be pushed back in line due to the new update. I use the boards in reverse to what is seen
Please do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. I asked in the toshiba forum if there was any possibiility of the "hiden image where the restore thing resides to be infected with a virus from factory, since this computer was freshly restored to factory condition, and they said not likely unless the virus was really smart.
But I think is a good idea then to stop some start up items and just have a look...If you could help me with these startup items, I would appreaciate.
