Is there a removal tool for Trojan.Gen? I recently used a removal tool for Powelik and now Trojan.Gen is showing up when i do a scan. Thank you
I would suggest to try to run Norton Power Eraser tool and make sure that your computer is free from any threats/viruses/malwares:
http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/DIY/index.jsp
Check if it detects any threats and if it does, please provide us the filename and other details. Don't fix any files now, you can fix those after getting confirmation in this thread. You can try both System scan and rootkit scan.
Yogesh
I've been a Norton 360 user for years and it has detected more threats than I can recall. Recently, immediately after boot up, Norton "detects Trojan.Gen" followed shortly thereafter by" removal of Trojan.Gen." This message happens on a daily basis and while I'm hoping it's nothing more than an eyesore, I would prefer to remove it completely. I have tried turning off system restore, running Live Update and then running Norton, but the complete scan actually comes up clean. Any suggestions?
Hello
I would suggest a full scan with SUPERAntiSpyware, the free version. I would also keep an eye open to see if it comes back again as it could be indicative of a more serious infection.
Here is a free on demand antimalware scanner. It is safe to use on demand with your Norton product.
http://www.superantispyware.com/
Here is another site you can use to get the program.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/
The download button is on the right hand side. Please be careful not to download Spyware Doctor which is on the left side. Also, please don't forget to update the program each time before use of it. In fact you can update it every day just in case some malware may prevent you from updating it.
Please come back and let us know what it found and what symptoms your computer is showing. Thanks.
Welcome,
Sorry we're meeting under these circumstances. I can recommend only two solutions. The first is to wait for user, volunteer Quads to see your message and respond. The other is to go to one of the sites listed below and work with only one of their experts. The rule is the same in all cases. You finish with the one that started the process. It is individual and please, no self-help fixes while you wait. They will only complicate the process.

Thanks I'll wait for Quads, is it safe to use my computer for work in the meantime? Just want to make sure my data is secure.
I'm getting Norton notices for all of these: Trojan.Gen, Trojan.Gen.2, Trojan.Zeroaccess
ANY other user other than the thread starter is not to use any instructions, scripts or proceedures, The work though in cleaning a system is individual and only for that system due to a number of factors.
Please do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
- We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Do as the instructions ask nothing extra or run things twice
- If I ask a Question just answer it, don't run anything unless it states.
- Major steps used:
1. Find
2. Break
3. Destroy
4. Cleanup (including system as a whole)
Please read every post completely before doing anything.
- Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process.
- Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forum, (sometimes
)
- Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.

Unfortunately, with the amount of threads means the waiting time is longer, Norton continually Blocking files won't hurt your system but is is just annoying, Please wait and be patient. I am trying to keep up, spending hours here to script and clean machines on a first come/first served basis. If you or someone adds to your thread It will be pushed back in line due to the new update. I use the boards in reverse to what is seen
