Hi
have you tried uninstalling Norton and re-installing after using the removal tool??
Hi Phil_D
with earlier versions of NAV / NIS there is a file named "NAVProd.dll" instead of SAVprod. possibe typo.
I have searched my PC and I don't have a "NAVprod.dll" on my pc with NIS 2009 installed.
Seaching, people in the past have had this problem file versions stated are 9.x and 10.x,
by Hijack.log on the sites the people were also infected.
Of course possible not in this case.
bye

Quads,
I agree that it could be a typo as I am not coming up with much on it.
I'm interested as to how she was notified of it; especially since she indicated that Trend Micro found a Trojan and couldn't get rid of it.
Best Wishes.
Backup your important files and do a reformat for your hard disk ( if you have windows CD, just boot from it ) or You can switch to safe mode (press F8 when windows start ) to scan your hard disk to reomove the virus and trojan using anti virus software. I suggest using the latest Norton Internet Security 2009 build 125. You can download it from here. http://spftrl.digitalriver.com/pub/symantec/tbyb/NAM/NIS09EN.exe
Here's the deal.. I had Trend Miro on my comp. At one point it had said that it had found a Torjan and couldn't get rid of it. It had also said that it found a virus in my files and it put them in quarantine.. it looked like they the same files, it would launch when i stared up windows.
I removed Trend Micro and have put Norton on. All of the files have loaded except one.. SAVProd.
I don't know what this file is for na dwhat it does. The warning says it's a necessary file.
I've ran scan after scan and nothing. A few of the scans had problems connecting to my files, like there was something blocking it. I'm convinced that it's a Trojan or something..
I need help, so if you have any idea or thoughts ... help a girl out.
Thanks!!
Hi Phil_D
The others I have read it seems when you boot the PC an icon appears and a dialog box pops up saying "a necessary file can not be loaded: NAVProd".
Quite a few years ago, I had AV software do the same thing, detecting an infection, but couldn't remove. I have come across some strange situations in trying to clean and repair a PC, sometimes taking ages. that's one way to learn of new infections different ways they are evolving.
Yes it wouild be helpful if she could give us as much info as possible. or even send me an Hijack.log to see if I can see infections in the list., also any active bad processes.
Best wishes back to you.

znmng,
Suggesting a reformat at this point is premature and drastic. We have not yet had any feedback from debbiiee01.
Quads,
I agree with your assessments. However we need some input from debbiiee01.
Your offer to read a Hijack.log is very generous. Might I suggest that if she runs the log, that she send it to you via PM?
Those logs can make the Forum posts quite lengthy.
Znmng
I agree with Phil_D, backing up and reformating at this point in time is in the extreme and over the top, don't need to do that (yet and hopefully not at all).
thanks
Quads
Hi Phil_D
I have just PM debbiiee01 a few moments ago, I just have to wait now.
I am aware Hijackthis.logs are lengthy and can take awhile to sort through to, but that's OK. Also guiding someone through the procedure to go with it, but the way it goes. No problems
thanks
Quads
Quads,
That is very kind of you. Thanks for volunteering your time!
Best Regards
Hi debbiiee01,
Just a few questions in order to help address your issue.
Which Norton Product did you install? NAV or NIS? 2008 or 2009?
Are you using Windows XP or Vista?
How were you informed that one (SAVProd) file did not load?
